There are really only 3 simple tips you need to stick to for maintaining your hot tub all year:
1. Ensure Good Circulation – Water circulation helps to keep your hot tub free of contaminants. Some models have an automatic timer set to circulate the water. If yours doesn’t have a timer, make sure you run your hot tub at least twice a day for 15-20 minutes.
2. Keep a Regular Cleaning Schedule – Every week, skim the surface of the water and check for any debris. You can use a sponge and white vinegar to scrub away any buildup. Make sure you wipe down the shell, too, and rinse the cover with a mild solution of water with a little bleach. Don’t forget to rinse the filters, and spraying them with a filter cleaner every week or so is also a good idea.

Maintaining Proper Hot Tub Chemistry
You want to keep the pH level between 7.4 and 7.6 and the alkalinity level between 100 and 150 parts per million. Add hot tub sanitizers (chlorine or bromine) according to package instructions. After periods of heavy use, you’ll want to shock the water with a non- or di-chlorine to boost the sanitizer and kill any microbes.
